PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island's unemployment rate remained unchanged in July, but the state added jobs for the sixth straight month.
The state Department of Labor and Training reported Friday that the jobless rate in July was 10.8 percent, the same as in June.
The department said 1,300 jobs were created, and officials revised the previous month's figure to reflect a gain of 1,600 jobs. Last month, the state reported a loss of 1,500 jobs in June - but that was based on a reporting error.
The number of employed Rhode Island residents decreased by 2,700, to 503,200, in July. The state's labor force also shrank by 2,900, to 564,400.
