The Brendan Doherty for Congress Campaign is slamming Congressman Cicilline for his leadership in Providence after Cicilline appeared on the WPRO Morning News on Tuesday and said that Providences fiscal crisis was not caused by his administration but is a result of past mayors.
We find it amazing that David Ciclline is trying to put off all the responsibility for the disaster in the city of providence on prior administration or things he claims he couldnt control, Gio Cicione, Campaign manager for Brendan Doherty, told the WPRO Morning News with Tara Granahan and Andrew Gobeil.
He was mayor for eight years, he passed budget after budget that did not balance. I think the only time he did try to put out a balanced budget was when he was up for re-election. That is not fiscal responsibility, said Cicione.
Cicione said Cicillines response to Providences finances is beyond belief and that he is not fooling anyone. Our experience in talking to people in the city of Providence is that they dont forget what he did to the city no matter how much he tries to pass the buck and blame somebody else, said Cicione. I think people understand that eight years of bad governance, bad budgeting, a failure to understand basic economics, a failure to be responsible in managing the citys finances and future that all falls squarely in David Cicillines lap and there is no way around that.
In a press release put out by the campaign Cicione said as we have come to learn, David Cicilline is all talk. We have seen what this has done to the City of Providence - Rhode Island can't afford a sequel on the national stage.
