The Brendan Doherty Campaign has hired Ian Prior to manage the campaign full-time. Prior, who has been informally serving as an advisor to the campaign for several months now, will assume day today operational oversight of the campaign as of April 23.
Prior will take over for Giovanni Cicione who has been serving as a consultant and part-time campaign manger. Cicione will remain involved in the campaign as a strategic consultant.
As the campaign has grown and gained traction, the transition to a full-time manager became essential, said Doherty. Ian has been an integral part of our team since we announced, and he is a trusted and valued advisor to the campaign - we are all thrilled that he was willing to make this full-time commitment to our effort.
Prior is a Rhode Island native who spent several years working as a constitutional litigator in Boston. He returned to Rhode Island and began working on the Doherty Campaign. Brendan Doherty is a tried and true leader who has a demonstrated record of leadership, integrity, and will have the courage to always do what is right for his constituents, said Prior. I am honored to help Brendan and the people of the First District of Rhode Island will be proud to have him as their Congressman.
Cicione applauded the appointment. Ian is a sharp, aggressive and dedicated member of the team and for him to leave his law practice and commit fully to the campaign is a real win for Doherty for Congress. The campaign has now evolved to the point where this type of 24/7 oversight is required, particularly as David Cicilline has shown he will stop at nothing to get re-elected. We knew that if we did our job we would get to this point, and I wish I could take this on myself, but with so many business and family demands its just impossible.
