Theatre By The Sea continues its 2012 season with The Sound of Music.

Set in Austria in 1938, this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical follows the adventures of a high spirited young woman who is ill-fitted for the life of the convent. Sent to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval officer, Maria wins their hearts (and his) with her exuberant love of life.

The family's narrow escape from the Nazis, over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II, is one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented onstage. This beloved family classic features a glorious score including "Do Re Mi," "My Favorite Things," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain." and "The Sound of Music."
