Curt Schilling may not have Governor Lincoln Chafee to kick around anymore. A confidential memo obtained by the Associated Press reveals that board of the former Red Sox Pitchers company 38 Studios approved a plan to seek bankruptcy protection in mid-may because finances were so dire.
The memo including this information was mark May14, the same day the Governor Lincoln Chafee made his first public comments about the state of the video game company. Schilling has repeatedly charged that Chafees negative comments about the company and the game scared away potential investors.
Schilling has also charged that Chafee had and agenda and never encouraged the success of the company.
38 Studios first came to Rhode Island from Massachusetts in 2010 when the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation offered the company a $75 million state backed loan.
At the beginning of June 38 Studios filed for bankruptcy after laying off its entire staff at the end of May.

(7/1/2012 7:45:38 PM) I most certainly am NOT joking, Captain USA. He was right about the Iraq War (the only Republican who voted against it), he was right about the Bush tax cuts being too expensive for this country to afford and he was right about 38 Studios. And yet it was Don Carcieri and his radio-show lackey John DePetro who howled about what a great coup this was to "steal" this company away from Massachusetts, Chafee was against it!! Learn the facts, Captain USA. |

(6/29/2012 2:16:25 PM) I hope you are joking Jackson. More than half the population of RI did not want Chafee. Oh we are realllly lucky to have him. *rolls eyes* |

(6/29/2012 11:46:21 AM) Of course Gov. Chafee had nothing to do with the bankruptcy! Only idiots and know-nothings like John DePetro ever thought so. His hatred of Gov. Chafee comes across every time he's on the airwaves, it's a joke! DePetro is one of the LEAST INFORMED people about what happened with 38 Studios. He refuses to admit that Chafee was RIGHT (and he and Carcieri and the rest of the idiots who wanted Schilling to bring his company to RI at any cost, were WRONG). RI is lucky to have Gov. Chafee!! |
