A six-year-old boy died after being pulled from the water at Lincoln Woods State Beach on Sunday.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management the boy was pulled from the water at about 4 p.m. Medical crews attempted CPR on the boy and he was immediately transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The DEM says the child did suffer preexisting medical conditions and says an autopsy will determine whether the cause of death was drowning.

The DEM has identified the boy as Rafael DelMontes from Boston, MA.
