Anthony Gemma slighted both his opponents in the race for congress in the First Congressional District on the Buddy Cianci Show on Wednesday when he said if he does not win in the Democratic Primary he would write himself in, in November instead of casting a vote for either of his opponents.
I cannot support the Republican and to be honest with you I cannot support David Cicilline, Gemma told Buddy Cianci. Gemma has been a particularly harsh critic of both former State Police Superintendent and Republican candidate Brendan Doherty and Democratic opponent David Cicilline.
This is Gemmas second round against the former mayor and sitting congressman Cicilline. Gemma fell in a four way primary in 2010 to Cicilline capturing 23% of the vote but Cicilline held a strong lead with 37% of the vote. The other candidates David Segal and Bill Lynch lagged behind getting close to 20% of the vote each.
Gemma said that after he lost in 2010 he supported the party not David Cicilline. I never backed David Cicilline what I did say is that I would fall in line and back the party and I did back the party I came out and helped Frank Caprio in that election, Gemma told the WPRO Morning News with Tara Granahan and Andrew Gobeil.

(7/12/2012 9:08:49 PM) Gemma was for Cicilline because he was a democrat and Gemma supported him? Just goes to show that we don't need Gemma as our rep - we have nothing but empty suits in DC dancing to what ever tune Obama plays the particular day and by his own words he is a democrat FOLLOWER not a LEADER who will standf up for the citizens of the state. I guess every time he runs it helps his company with free advertising. |
