JetBlue Airways announced Wednesday that it will begin offering service this fall to T.F. Green Airport in Warwick.

The airline will start offering flights from Rhode Island to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Florida starting November 29.  President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Barger said at a ceremony on the steps of the State House that Providence will be JetBlue's 75th destination in its route network.

Governor Chafee made the announcement on Wednesday at the State House.  He was joined by Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian and airport officials.  Barger hinted at additional airline service to Green in the future.

"We tend to go into a city with the intention of expansion and growth," Barger said, adding, "we like to go in with, 'this is the beginning, and how do you continue to build it into the future?'."

Wow about time. I hope this means a drop in Southwest prices to these locations.
