Think you have seen more drivers pulled over by state troopers recently? It’s not just a coincident; State Police have been cracking down on speeding motorists.
According to the Providence Journal, Rhode Island State Troopers have issues 14,708 speeding ticket from Jan. 1 to July 25 a sharp comparison to the average of approximately 20,000 tickets per year over the past 3 years.
Tickets are not the only thing on the rise, the number of driving related fatalities are also up. In the Jan. 1 to the July 25 period 50 fatalities have been reported compared to the average of 66 a year in the past two years
In addition to stepping up patrols on speeders, State Police have also stepped up a publicity campaign to warn motorists to slow down.

(8/9/2012 6:38:19 AM) Really? My 5:30-6:00am drive on 295 South from Smithfield to Warwick is like driving on a speedway. Cars passing you at 80 are a regular occurrence, and I can't remember the last time I saw a police vehicle. |
