NASA’s Curiosity Rover that landed on Mars on Monday morning was powered by a battery made by a Connecticut based company that is moving to Rhode Island.

“We’re always excited because it’s a high profile job and we’re usually very successful at these and the only thing we’re concerned about is the landing,” said President of the company Vince Yevolli.

Yardney Technical Products has made the batteries for past missions to Mars. These have included the Spirit and Opportunity rovers and the Phoenix spacecraft.

“Now that we’ve had four consecutive successful missions on Mars and all of them had our battery, it’s pretty cool,” said Yevolli.

The company will be moving to their new location in East Greenwich in the next few months. Yevolli says they have already bought the building.
