Senator Jack Reed met with seniors at the Senior Center in Coventry on Thursday morning. He joined with CVS pharmacy and the program “Script Your Future”. The program, Reed says, is meant to raise awareness about people taking their medication correctly.

“Nowadays, there’s so many, not just seniors, but people that are taking multiple medications. Sometimes they’re getting it from one specialists and then they’ll get a prescription from another specialist and we’ve got to be able to coordinate that,” said Reed.

According to the “Script Your Future” website, “nearly 3 out of 4 Americans don’t take their medication as directed, resulting in serious health consequences”. The program offers tools to help people manage their medication and teaches them how to talk to their doctors about their medicine. Senator Reed says this is helpful for everyone.

“It’s there to make sure the treatment that they’re getting, the prescriptions they’re getting are being used effectively and that they know where they can pick up the phone and call and say ‘I have a question,’ and get the questioned answered,” said Reed.

Senator Reed, CVS Pharmacy and Rhode Island “Script Your Future” joined at the Senior Center to provide free one-on-one medication consultations and blood pressure tests for the local senior citizens.

“It’s just a wonderful way to ensure a healthy, well population particularly among seniors,” said Reed.

Are you really kidding here? Is this a joke? Is this the work of a United States Senator? This is literally inconceivable that Reed would be pathetically engaged in this sort of initiative. So much for solving our fiscal woes... the nation is about to fall off a fiscal cliff driven by 15 trillion in debt and this bozo is talking about taking pills with Granny... unbelievable... why does RI settle for such "little" men?
